Welcome to angie.datavibe.net

I had a few pictures from some of the parties I've been to here in/around Detroit. I've only been involved in the Detroit "scene" since 1997-98, but my passion for the Detroit "sound" started at a very young age. My father was a DJ at the legendary WABX, here in Detroit, and my step mom worked for the Metrotimes in the late 80's/early 90's. I was constantly exposed to the wide variety of music that Detroit had to offer. Around the age of 13, I decided that music my dad called "that techno music"(referring to the track Inner City - "Good Life" playing in the background), is "my music". It set me apart from their rock-n-roll, etc style...(KISS, Iggy Pop & Was Not Was). Finally I had something that set me apart in a family who's roots were planted around music. I never looked back. With over 15 years of classical music training, I've learned to appreciate all different types & styles of music. The more I learn now about Detroit Techno history, the more I realize how lucky I was to have that type of influence growing up. It makes it easier to connect the historical dots and see how the Detroit sound developed.

Pictures will never catch the true essence of what the music means to me. But hopefully it will paint a colorful picture for people who have never visited Detroit.

Detroit Techno Militia

Historically, DETROIT TECHNO MILITIA is a grass-roots collective who’s mission is to promote Detroit Electronic Music around the world. They are influenced heavily by Detroit's' techno history and spread the gospel of techno to anyone who will listen. They believe in what they do, and take pride in giving back to something that has given so much to them. They look at it a lot like restoring an old building. While most people have the “out with the old, in with the new” attitude, they want to maintain the historic value that is already present in Detroit. They are not tearing down the old building, but using the existing structure as a basis of their endeavors. Musically & historically, Detroit has a lot to offer, and DETROIT TECHNO MILITIA wants to make sure the rest of the world knows about it.

Mix sets, bios, forums, news & interviews are available from all members at Detroit Techno Militia
